Puspakom CEO Mahmood Razak Bahman said the TIN requirement was mandated by the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) as part of the e-invoicing system kicking in on Aug 1.
He said Puspakom had integrated the TIN collection process into its MyPuspakom website for customers who make an online booking.
“Customers only need to update their TIN details on MyPuspakom once, and future bookings will already be as it is right now.
“The early rollout will also enable us to iron out any glitches that may occur. We are committed to supporting our customers throughout this process,” he said in a statement.
He said individual customers only needed to provide their MyKad numbers to make inspection bookings.
“For individuals, their TIN is actually the same as their individual tax file numbers. Likewise, for companies, their TIN is equivalent to their company tax file number typically used for tax filing purposes,” he said.
Those who require a TIN can obtain it via www.mytax.hasil.gov.my.
Earlier, Miri MP Chiew Choon Man said commercial vehicle operators such as taxis, buses and those in car sales were concerned by the new requirement, as it might complicate booking processes and lead to longer waiting times, The Borneo Post reported.
