Kuala Lumpur, Selangor hit by water cuts

An odour pollution incident at Sungai Kundang and Sungai Sembah has seen four water treatment plants temporarily shut down.

Air Selangor said water tankers have been mobilised to the affected areas.
PETALING JAYA:
Hundreds of areas in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor will be experiencing unscheduled water disruptions today due to the temporary shutdown of four water treatment plants following an odour pollution incident at Sungai Kundang and Sungai Sembah.

In a statement, Air Selangor said Kuala Lumpur, Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Selangor are experiencing unscheduled water disruptions.

“Air Selangor is doing its best to mitigate the impact on consumers,” it said, adding that water tankers have been mobilised to the affected areas.

It said the water cuts were caused by the temporary shutdown of the Rantau Panjang, Sungai Selangor Phase 1 (SSP1), Sungai Selangor Phase 2 (SSP2), and Sungai Selangor Phase 3 (SSP3) water treatment plants.

Air Selangor added that it would provide regular updates on its social media platforms.

The full list of affected areas can be found here.
