In a press conference, Johor police chief M Kumar said Albertine Leo was found at 4am today with a 31-year-old local man at a budget hotel in Batang Kali.

He said Albertine had been sent to a hospital for a medical check-up.

“She is safe, and the suspect has been brought to Johor for further investigation,” said Kumar.

Kumar said two men and two women were also arrested in the Iskandar Puteri area yesterday to assist in the investigation.

None of the five suspects is linked to the girl, he said.

Kumar said police are probing the case under Section 365 of the Penal Code for kidnapping or abducting with the intent of secretly and wrongfully confining a person.

The case is also being probed under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 for touching a child’s body for a sexual purpose.

Albertine was reported missing during the Bon Odori event at Eco Galleria in Iskandar Puteri.

The incident reportedly took place while her mother was selling drinks at the festival.
