PETALING JAYA:
Federal Territories Amanah has lodged a police report against two Facebook users for allegedly defaming its Wanita chief, Aiman Athirah Sabu.

The state Amanah communications director Razali Zakaria said the Facebook users had posted an image featuring Aiman’s face next to a can of beer with the Amanah party logo superimposed on it.

“The report was filed to prompt an investigation under Section 499 of the Penal Code, Sections 3 and 5 of the Defamation Act 1957, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act,” he told a press conference outside the Dang Wangi police station today.

He said this marks the second police report filed on the matter following a similar report made by Sepang Amanah yesterday. Aiman is Sepang MP.

Razali also recommended that Aiman, who is also the deputy housing and local government deputy minister, take legal action against the Facebook account owners to prevent similar incidents in the future.

He said that such allegations would not only tarnish Aiman’s reputation but also that of the entire party.

In a Facebook post on Friday, Aiman said she was not informed about the contributors, including a beer company, at a fundraising event she attended recently for the construction of a hall at SJK(C) Tche Min in Sungai Pelek, which is under her constituency.

However, Aiman admitted she was aware that photos of her and other contributors with a mock cheque for a RM3 million donation from a beer company at the school event had gone viral.
