PETALING JAYA:
AirAsia resumed its online check-in operations at 2pm today after a global IT glitch hit airlines yesterday.

AirAsia deputy group CEO (airline operation) Chester Voo said the low-cost carrier will continue to monitor the situation closely, Bernama reported.

He advised passengers to arrive early at the airport to avoid potential delays or long queues.

He said the airline was putting “the people first, as they pay money to fly”.

US cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike has admitted that a “defect” in a software update had caused the IT outage.

The outage brought airports, banks, hospitals, media outlets and businesses to a halt worldwide.

Reuters said air passengers worldwide faced delays and flight cancellations.
