Deputy public prosecutor Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin informed the sessions court here today that written representations for the charges to be withdrawn were submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) last month.

“We have looked into his (Lim’s) representations and also the investigation papers, and decided to reject it,” he said, adding that the prosecution had informed Lim’s lawyers of this earlier this month.

Judge Azura Alwi said the hearing will resume on Aug 8, with businessman Zarul Ahmad Zulkifli continuing his testimony.

Lim is charged with using his position to secure from Zarul a 10% cut of the profits from the undersea tunnel project, and accepting RM3.3 million from the businessman.

He is also accused of two counts of dishonestly misappropriating RM208.7 million worth of state land to two companies.

So far, 36 witnesses have testified in Lim’s trial, including former minister Nazri Aziz and current Penang exco member Zairil Khir Johari.
