“I was neither informed nor consulted by the government regarding the approval of the sale,” she said, adding that she only became aware after Mah Sing announced the RM108 million deal last Wednesday.
Kok noted that the company plans to develop the land in two phases, first building more than 1,600 serviced apartments under the name M Aspira on 3.7 acres.
The second phase will involve constructing 800 affordable homes under the name Residensi Madani on the remaining 2.47 acres.
“The land sold by DBKL to Mah Sing Group was previously reclaimed from the developer Aset Kayamas by the government during Khalid Samad’s tenure as federal territories minister.
“Khalid did this following complaints of excessive development from Taman Desa residents,” she said.
According to her, the government had intended to turn the open space into a park, but this plan has now been cancelled and replaced with rapid development.
“The current government’s actions are nonsensical, as the land has been sold twice by DBKL, and the cancelled development plan has been revived with the land awarded to another developer.”
She urged residents in the vicinity of the proposed project site in Taman Desa to email their objections to DBKL at [email protected] before July 21.
Mah Sing said the proposed project will have an estimated gross development value of RM1.01 billion.
