According to a source, the suspect, in his 30s, was detained at his office at about noon today.
His wife, also in her 30s, was arrested at about 1pm at their home in Terengganu.
“An initial investigation suggests that the couple engaged in these activities from around 2022 to 2023.
“The male suspect, employed in a state agency, allegedly leveraged his position by recommending quotations from his wife’s company to secure procurement contracts totalling RM200,000,” said the source.
The source said Terengganu MACC is also examining other procurement contracts secured by the company from the same agency.
Terengganu MACC director Hazrul Shazreen Abd Yazid confirmed the arrests and said the case is being investigated under Section 23(1) of the MACC Act 2009.
He did not rule out further arrests and said both suspects would be brought to the Kuala Terengganu magistrates’ court tomorrow morning to be remanded.
