Cops nab 8 men over death of factory worker

Police say the arrests were made after a medical officer at Cyberjaya Hospital reported that a foreign worker was brought in injured and unconscious.

Eight men have been arrested following the death of a 30-year-old foreign factory worker in Pulau Meranti in Puchong, Selangor last Friday.

The eight men, all foreign nationals, were taken into custody by police at their respective homes in Pulau Meranti as well as in Kampung Baru, Sungai Buloh, at about 11pm, the same day, Bernama reported.

Sepang district police chief Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said the men, aged between 30 and 45, were arrested to assist in the investigation, which was being carried out under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

He added that the police had also found a stick believed to have been used to hit the victim, at one of the houses.

“At about 9.40am last Friday, Sepang police received a report from a Cyberjaya Hospital medical officer who informed us that a foreign worker had been sent to the hospital in an unconscious state. He was bleeding on the leg and hand,” Wan Kamarul said in a statement.

He also advised the public not to make any speculations or share inaccurate information to the point of disrupting the investigation process or causing public annoyance.
