
Akil Syauqi, three, died on Wednesday at Penang Hospital.
Their mother, Nurain Hasnorizal, confirmed the younger brother’s death after visiting him in the ward today.
“Luth passed away at about 1.24pm today. His suffering has come to an end,” she was quoted by Harian Metro as saying.
She also said he will be buried beside his brother’s grave at Kampung Banggol Berangan in Labu Besar, Kedah.
On Monday, Kulim police chief Azizul Khairi said the mother realised her children had been poisoned when they started vomiting and foaming at the mouth.
The children were taken to Malau Health Clinic before being transferred to Kulim Hospital. Medical officers determined that both boys were in critical condition and decided to move them to Penang Hospital for further treatment.
Police have recorded statements from two individuals, aged 53 and 34, suspected of placing the packets of snacks on the wire fence surrounding an orchard.
The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Children’s Act 2001 and Section 284 of the Penal Code.
Yesterday, Bernama reported that a man has been remanded for six days to assist in an investigation into the poisoning of the two brothers.
