The Kuwaiti air force is expected to take delivery of new Super Hornets soon.
Defence minister Khaled Nordin said the matter was discussed with the Kuwaiti ambassador to Malaysia Rashed Mohammed Rashed Al-Saleh who paid a courtesy call on him today, Bernama reported.
It was earlier reported that the Kuwaiti air force has 39 single-seat and twin-seat Hornets, in service since 1992. They have recently been modernised to keep them up to date.
Kuwait is expected to acquire 56 new jets – 28 Eurofighter Typhoons and 28 Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornets.
Khaled, in a post on Facebook, said they also discussed military-to-military cooperation, defence industry collaboration and the conflict in Gaza.
Khaled hoped bilateral relations and defence cooperation between Malaysia and Kuwait would continue to be enhanced, benefitting both countries.
“Defence cooperation between the two countries will continue to be strengthened through a memorandum of understanding that will be signed in due course,” he added.
