PETALING JAYA:
A married couple, who are social media influencers, has been remanded until Sunday to assist in the investigation into alleged misappropriation of donations.

Magistrate Irza Zulaikha Rohanuddin granted the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) request for remand at the Putrajaya magistrates’ court today, Bernama reported.

According to an MACC source, the couple was arrested at 6.40pm yesterday.

Previously, the couple faced accusations of collecting millions of ringgit in donations but not channelling them to the intended recipients. The estimated collection of the donations from the public, since 2020, was believed to have reached RM3 million.

Two more people, believed to be directors of a fundraising platform, were also arrested at midnight last night in connection with the case.

They were detained after giving their statements at MACC’s headquarters.
