In a statement today, Apad announced that the decision to revoke the licence, including vehicle permits issued to M Kumar Trans Tour Sdn Bhd, was made by its licence cancellation and suspension committee on July 9.
The company was found to have failed to comply with its licence conditions under the Land Public Transport Act 2010, and for dangerous driving, Bernama reported.
“Checks with agencies also found that the company had picked up a lot of summonses. Any transactions related to the company’s operating licence will not be allowed effective immediately.
“It is hoped this serves as a lesson to other companies to always comply with the regulations set during operations, especially matters involving safety,” Apad said.
The agency also reminded companies to monitor their drivers continuously and take care of their welfare to ensure the safety of other road users.
“We will not compromise on any offences involving dangerous driving that threaten the safety of other motorists,” Apad said.
The bus, which was carrying 18 Chinese nationals, the bus driver and two tour guides, was heading down from Genting Highlands on June 29 when it toppled and hit the road divider at about 11am.
Two Chinese nationals died from head injuries, according to Pahang fire and rescue department director Wan Zaidi Wan Isa.
The 32-year-old tour bus driver did not possess a driving licence and had 27 previous traffic summonses for various offences.
He subsequently pleaded not guilty at the Raub magistrates’ court on July 3 to two charges of dangerous driving and driving without a licence, resulting in death.
