Murugiah, Asojan retain MIC VP posts, Nelson is new pick

The party also elects members to its central working committee for 2024-2027 term.

KUALA LUMPUR:
T Murugiah and M Asojan have defended their positions as MIC vice-presidents, while R Nelson emerged as the new face for the post, following the election of the party’s top leadership for the 2024-2027 term.

Nelson, a senator, was previously a member of the central working committee (CWC).

The results were announced by MIC election committee deputy chairman and legal adviser M Selva here today.

The members elected to the CWC included S Tamilvanan, D Vincent, D Andrew, P Kamalanathan, S Marathamuthu, M Karuppanan, T Novalan, G Raman and S Ananthan.

The voting process for MIC’s highest office took place at the MIC headquarters yesterday, with the nomination process carried out last month.

Earlier, SA Vigneswaran and M Saravanan retained their positions as MIC president and deputy president, respectively, after standing unopposed.

S Shatesh Kumar and K Amarveen Malairaja were unopposed as Putera MIC chief and deputy chief, respectively.

Kemelah assemblyman N Saraswati and P Thanaletchumy were also returned unopposed as Wanita chief and deputy chief, respectively.
