Man on drugs slashes disabled victim in neck in Kluang

PETALING JAYA:
A 32-year-old disabled man in Kluang, Johor, was severely injured after a man under the influence of drugs slashed him in the neck at 1.50pm yesterday.

Berita Harian reported Kluang police chief Bahrin Noh as saying that the victim is in stable condition and receiving treatment at Enche’ Besar Hajjah Kalsom Hospital.

He also said in a statement on Facebook that the incident happened outside a sundry shop in Taman Kluang Barat.

Bahrin said the 45-year-old suspect was arrested at 6.17pm near a petrol station in Taman Bersatu, Kluang, by a team from the Kluang criminal investigation department.

He said checks on the suspect, who admitted to slashing the victim with a penknife, found a record of criminal and drug-related cases.

“A urine screening test found the suspect positive for morphine,” he said.

Berita Harian also reported a witness called Suhaida as saying that the two men were seen arguing shortly before the incident.

Bahrin said the suspect has been remanded for four days from today.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means, which provides for imprisonment of up to 10 years, a fine, or both.
