KUALA LUMPUR: Two men were charged in the magistrates’ court here today with the murder of their Bangladeshi friend two weeks ago.
Bangladeshi Milon Miah, 36, and Malaysian Kader Batcha Kader Oli Shariff, 64, were charged with murdering Apu Chandra Barmon along Jalan Travers, Brickfields, here at 7.39am on June 16.
The charge provides for the possibility of the death penalty upon conviction.
The defendants nodded after the charge was read out to them before magistrate Illi Marisqa Khalizan but no plea was recorded because the case is under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
The court fixed Aug 29 for next mention of the case.
Deputy public prosecutor Hamizah Hisan appeared for the prosecution while the defendants were not represented.
