MFL also said it would not deduct three points from Selangor FC but warned that repeated offences could result in stricter penalties.
The ban on spectators attending the Super League match between Selangor FC and JDT at MBPJ Stadium during game week 14 has also been lifted.
However, MFL said it would maintain the compensation for losses suffered by JDT and the MFL secretariat, with details and costs to be provided to Selangor FC for review and further discussions.
“This reconsideration was made as a gesture of respect and in accordance with the decree of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah,” it said in a statement.
Selangor FC has three days from today to appeal under the rules in the Malaysian League Manual.
Yesterday, Sultan Sharafuddin voiced anger and disappointment at MFL for imposing such “excessive and unreasonable” penalties on Selangor FC.
He also lambasted Football Association of Malaysia president Hamidin Amin for not speaking out on behalf of Selangor FC, despite previously serving as the state football association’s secretary-general and being conferred a Datukship by the sultan.
MFL’s decision to penalise Selangor FC has prompted various quarters, including the state government, to offer assistance in paying the original RM100,000 fine.
On Tuesday, Selangor FC said they would appeal MFL’s decision, adding that they only withdrew from the game with JDT after their request for a postponement was turned down.
The club reiterated that they had requested for the match to be postponed following the “heinous” acid attack on its forward, Faisal Halim, and several “incidents involving other professional football players”.
