She said this after Selangor’s Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah voiced anger and disappointment at the Malaysian Football League (MFL) yesterday for imposing “excessive and unreasonable” penalties on Selangor FC.
The club was fined RM100,000 and docked three points after pulling out of last month’s Charity Shield match against Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT).
“As long as the police have not revealed the findings of their investigation, both the Sultan of Selangor and sports fans will continue to seek justice on the issue,” Yeoh was quoted as saying in a Kosmo report.
“They want to know what’s the progress of the investigation. Without the results, the public cannot move on because Faisal is a national asset.”
On Selangor FC’s appeal against MFL’s decision, Yeoh said she hopes a “win-win” solution could be reached between the two parties.
“The appeal process must first be completed at the MFL level. I know there is a platform for appeals, and I understand that Selangor FC will appeal. I hope the appeal process goes smoothly,” she said.
On Tuesday, Selangor FC said they would appeal MFL’s decision, adding that they only withdrew from the game with JDT after their request for a postponement was turned down.
The club reiterated that they had requested for the match to be postponed following the “heinous” acid attack on its forward Faisal and several “incidents involving other professional football players”.
