He succeeds Abdul Ghani Salleh who retired on May 9.

PETALING JAYA:
Ramlan Harun has been appointed as Election Commission chairman effective today, succeeding Abdul Ghani Salleh who retired last month.

Chief secretary Zuki Ali said in a statement that Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim had consented to the appointment.

Ramlan has been in the civil service for more than 25 years, holding various posts including that of assistant director at the housing and local government ministry.

He holds a masters degree in land resource management from Universiti Putra Malaysia.
