Deputy human resources minister Abdul Rahman Mohamad said the implementation would follow the impact assessment of the PWP pioneer project carried out from this month till August.
“Until June 2024, the human resources ministry, the labour department, the trade union affairs department and the economy ministry, organised and attended 16 engagement sessions with employers and workers.
“Based on these sessions, the majority of employers and workers have provided positive feedback on the PWP’s implementation,” he said in reply to Sheikh Puzi Sheikh Ali (BN-Pekan) about when the policy would begin.
Rahman said to date, 237 employers had opened their accounts under the PWP system and applied to join the pioneer programme.
“A total of RM50 million has been prepared for the pioneer project, including incentive payments for 1,000 employers. The incentive payments are expected (to be disbursed) in October when they submit their claims.
“The incentive payments are expected to benefit 20,000 workers with salaries between RM1,500 and RM4,999,” he added.
