PETALING JAYA:
Bestinet Sdn Bhd will be required to surrender control of its Foreign Workers Centralised Management System (FWCMS) under a new agreement that will see its contract renewed for another three years.

Quoting government sources, Channel NewsAsia said the surrender of its FWCMS was among the “strict conditions” imposed on Bestinet, the IT system provider for the recruitment of workers from all source countries.

Bestinet must hand over to the government its Swift code and alphanumeric ciphers used by banks around the world for the international transfer of funds, the report said.

The firm must also hand over protocols in the payment system it uses in processing migrant workers into Malaysia.

“Putrajaya would then make payment to Bestinet for its services,” it said.

Contacted by CNA, a Bestinet executive declined to comment, but said the government would make “any necessary announcement, if any”.

Home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail did not respond to queries by CNA.

On June 1, Malaysiakini reported that the government would extend its agreement with Bestinet, with the continued use of the FWCMS, for another three years.

The government would retain greater control over the process, which would also see the amount Bestinet gets paid per worker reduced from RM100 to RM80, the report said.
