4 injured after express bus plunges into Lahad Datu ravine

Four people were injured after an express bus plunged into a ravine at Batu 9 Jalan Silam here, last night.

Lahad Datu fire and rescue station chief Sumsoa Rashid said the bus was carrying 16 passengers, two drivers and a bus conductor, travelling from Semporna to Kota Kinabalu, Bernama reported.

“The bus plunged 50m into a ravine but some people managed to get out of the bus by themselves,” he was quoted as saying.

“The four injured individuals are receiving treatment at Lahad Datu Hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.”

Last night, a spokesperson for the Sabah fire and rescue department operations centre said they had received a call about the incident at 9.24pm.

A total of seven officers and personnel were dispatched to the scene.
