PETALING JAYA:
The teacher accused of abusing a four-year-old boy at a nursery in Pandamaran, Klang, last month, will be charged at the Klang magistrates’ court tomorrow.

Klang Selatan district police chief Cha Hoong Fong said the teacher would be charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.

“The police opened an investigation paper under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001,” he said in a statement today.

“The investigating officer has completed the investigation paper and received instructions on June 12 from the deputy public prosecutor to charge (the teacher).”

FMT previously reported that the father wanted the police to take action against the teacher after his son returned from the nursery with bruises and scratches on his back, ears and cheeks.

In his police report, the 33-year-old said a teacher admitted that she had hit the boy with her hands after he defecated in his pants.

The child was then admitted to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital where doctors confirmed the injuries. The boy was left traumatised and fearful of returning to the nursery.

The father’s lawyer, Royston Tan, said the police had yet to make an arrest despite the incident happening a month ago.

In the statement, Cha denied allegations of interference in the investigation and said police needed time to gather evidence, especially in cases involving children, where interviews at the Child Interview Centre were conducted based on appointments.

“These actions must be completed before the investigation paper can be referred to the deputy public prosecutor’s office.

“Therefore, the Klang Selatan police refute the claims made in the article and advise the public not to speculate on this investigation,” he said.
