PETALING JAYA:
The progress of the Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link Project between Johor Bahru and Singapore stands at 77.61%, as of May 31, says Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp).

It said various parts of the project, such as the maintenance depot in Wadi Hana and Bukit Chagar station, are advancing according to schedule.

“The maintenance depot, one of the main components of the railway infrastructure located in Wadi Hana has achieved a progress of 82.14% and is scheduled for system installation by the end of the year,” it said in a statement today.

MRT Corp also said the Bukit Chagar station’s platform will be ready for system access by year-end, with current progress at 71.16%.

It added that installation of all pier columns along designated roads and completion of over half of the guideway spans brought overall progress to 65%, on track for completion by the end of the year.

MRT Corp said the construction of the marine section, which includes a navigation channel for boats and barges, is 74.76% completed, with full completion expected by November.

“With all areas progressing as planned, the operator of the RTS Link, the RTS Operations Systems Pte Ltd, will have access by the end of this year to carry out system installation works,” it said.

Due for completion in 2026, the RTS Link is a 4km light rail transit shuttle service connecting Bukit Chagar station in Johor Bahru and the Woodlands North station in Singapore.

It is expected to serve up to 10,000 passengers per hour per direction during peak periods.
