BANTING:
The status of the six Bersatu MPs who have declared their support for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will be determined by the Dewan Rakyat speaker, deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said.

He said he believes their status will be decided upon based on the provisions contained in the anti-party hopping law.

“We leave it to the speaker’s discretion and await the parliamentary meeting at the end of this month,” he said here today.

The six MPs are said to have had their memberships revoked after failing to respond to a written instruction from Bersatu’s Supreme Council to pledge allegiance to the party.

They are Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal (Bukit Gantang), Zahari Kechik (Jeli), Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang), Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan) and Dr Zulkafperi Hanapi (Tanjong Karang).

Yesterday, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Johari Abdul said he had not received official notice from any party regarding the issue.
