MCA did not contest the state assembly elections in August last year, but will be allocated a seat at the next general election.
KOTA BHARU:
Kelantan MCA will be allocated a state assembly seat to contest at the next general election (GE16), state Barisan Nasional chairman Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub said.

The party will also have an increased quota of seats on village development committees.

He said no seats were allocated for MCA at the last state elections as only Pakatan Harapan and BN contested but a seat will be allocated in the coming general election.

“The question of winning or losing is secondary but traditionally through the concept of togetherness in BN, a state seat is allocated to the party.

“The move is to ensure BN regains power in the state government,” he told reporters today after the BN convention.

PAS has formed the Kelantan government since 1990. It holds 37 seats in the current 45-member state assembly. Its partner Bersatu holds five seats. The opposition comprises one assemblyman each from BN (Umno) and PH (Amanah), and one independent.
