Asean secretariat pledges full support for Malaysia’s chairmanship

Malaysia will take over the Asean chairmanship from Laos next year.

PETALING JAYA:
The Asean secretariat is ready to render its full support to Malaysia as the chair of the regional body next year, says Asean secretary-general Kao Kim Hourn.

“The secretary-general also applauds Malaysia for making a firm commitment to enhance the start-up ecosystem in Asean,” Kao said in a post on X.

Earlier today, Kao met with science, technology and innovation minister Chang Lih Kang on the sidelines of the 20th Asean ministerial meeting on science, technology and innovation being held in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Malaysia will take over the Asean chairmanship from Laos next year.

Malaysia was previously the Asean chair in 1977, 1997, 2005 and 2015.
