Over 23,000 book vouchers redeemed so far, says ministry

The prime minister recently announced giving RM50 and RM100 book vouchers to students from Year Four up to universities.

Students have until Dec 31 to redeem their book vouchers, according to the education ministry.
PUTRAJAYA:
More than 23,000 book vouchers have been redeemed by students using the Delima (Digital Educational Learning Initiative Malaysia) application since the initiative was launched on May 31, the education ministry said

The ministry said the vouchers may be redeemed and used by students in educational institutions under its purview until Dec 31.

“Therefore, students need not worry about not having enough time to redeem their book vouchers and  ensure that they are used to obtain the best reading materials,” it said in a statement.

The book voucher initiative was announced by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on May 30.

Primary school pupils in Year 4 to 6 will receive RM50 vouchers, and students in secondary school, higher education institutions and the Institute of Teacher Education will receive vouchers worth RM100.

The ministry said the initiative can benefit all students in line with the government’s desire to produce a knowledgeable, critical thinking and visionary generation.
