Mountain guide dies at summit of Gunung Hitam

He was still conscious when a rescue team arrived after four hours but died shortly afterwards, a fire and rescue department official said.

KUALA LUMPUR:
A mountain guide died after collapsing when he reached the peak of Gunung Hitam in Hulu Langat near here this morning.

The Selangor fire and rescue department said the guide, Norfazli Abd Aziz, 57, was confirmed dead at 5.50pm today by a medical team at the location about five hours later.

A rescue team was deployed after information was received at 11.48am. “The team took four hours to reach the top of the mountain at about 4.30pm.

“Norfazli was unconscious but still breathing. However, the victim was confirmed dead by a medical officer at 5.50pm,” he said.
