
Scheduled for June 4 and 5 at the Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel & Convention Centre, the conference will be attended by policymakers, industry leaders, academics, and the public.
Renowned speakers and experts will exchange insights and discuss the latest trends in global social protection, with a particular emphasis on Malaysia.
This year’s theme, “Ageing and Longevity: Towards a Meaningful Retirement”, will address the challenges and solutions surrounding ageing and retirement. There will be a special focus on ensuring income security for the elderly.

ISWC 2024 will delve into the issue of an ageing population from a national perspective, covering crucial aspects, such as its impact on the economy and national productivity, as well as the formulation of supportive policies.
It will also explore Malaysia’s readiness for an ageing population, focusing on financial security, mental wellbeing, and the promotion of healthier lifestyles.
The conference is co-organised by the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), the finance ministry, the Implementation Coordination Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department, the International Social Security Association, and the Asean Social Security Association.
It will be officiated by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, while second finance minister Amir Hamzah Azizan will also be in attendance with other distinguished guests.
The two-day event will feature key speakers, including former US secretary of labour Robert Reich, UN Population Division director John Wilmoth, and Finnish-American journalist Anu Partanen, whose writing focuses on issues such as healthcare, education and social equality.
By bringing together experts, policymakers and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds, ISWC 2024 aims to develop collaborative solutions that uphold dignity, independence, and a high quality of life for older adults.
Through interactive sessions, keynote speeches and panel discussions, participants will have the opportunity to explore innovative approaches, take proactive actions, and influence policy direction aimed at enhancing the wellbeing of the elderly, their families and society as a whole.
