The education ministry said students in secondary school, higher education institutions and the Institute of Teacher Education will receive vouchers worth RM100.
“Students at institutions under the education ministry are able to obtain their vouchers from today through the Delima application,” it said in a statement.
The students have to register and login to the application, while the vouchers have to be used through the platform.
They will be able to choose their books on the app, paying with e-store credits obtained through the voucher, while the books will be delivered to their addresses.
Meanwhile, higher education minister Zambry Abdul Kadir reminded the over 1.2 million tertiary students not to misuse the RM100 book vouchers as what happened before.
“We hope that what happened last time will not reoccur,” he said after attending his ministry’s monthly assembly in Putrajaya.
Zambry said the distribution of vouchers which begins this evening will be done in phases, and that further details on its mechanism would be announced by higher education secretary-general Zaini Ujang today.
“It will be done in stages across universities, polytechnics and so on,” he said.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that the government will reintroduce its RM100 book voucher for students from Year 4 up to tertiary education.
The vouchers would be accompanied by a list of recommended books to encourage students to spend the vouchers on quality books.
