Pearly-Thinaah crash out of Malaysia Masters

Malaysia’s top women’s doubles pair of Pearly Tan and M Thinaah failed to make it to the final of the Malaysia Masters when they lost in straight games to Lee Yu-lim and Shin Seung-chan of South Korea in their semi-final encounter today.

The Malaysians, who were last year’s finalists, lost 16-21, 11-21 to their world No 26 opponents at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil.

The South Koreans will meet R Iwanaga and K Nakanishi of Japan, who beat S Stoeva and G Stoeva of Bulgaria 21-14, 21-16 in the other semi-final match.

There was good news in the mixed doubles when Malaysia’s Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Jemie Lai beat compatriots Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei 21-11, 21-19 in their semi-final clash.

Soon Huat and Jemie Lai, ranked world No 18, who have just tied the knot on May 4, will meet Indonesians Rinov Rivaldy-Pitha Haningtyas Mentari in the final tomorrow.
