“I was checking my mailbox at my residence last night and I found an envelope with something heavy in it.
“When I opened it, I saw two bullets and a piece of paper. Written on it were the words ‘C*b*ilu Cina?!!! Lu Akan Mati!!! TUNGGU!!!’,” she said.
Kok said the police have inspected the mailbox.
“I’m grateful for the swift action from the police,” she said.
Speaking to the media at an event in Kuala Lumpur, communications minister Fahmi Fadzil condemned the incident, saying that such things should not happen to any MP, whether they are in the government or opposition.
“The MPs are the voice of the rakyat. This is extremely shameful,” he said.
DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook also expressed the party’s condemnation of the death threat, saying such elements of violence are unacceptable especially in the handling of political differences.
“The entire DAP leadership is in solidarity with Kok in facing this threat,” he said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur police chief Rusdi Isa confirmed receiving the report, saying in a statement that the case is being investigated under Section 507 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication.
