Body of missing angler found in Pedu lake dam

He and another man were fishing from a boat on Thursday when it suddenly capsized.

PETALING JAYA:
Firemen have recovered the body of an angler who drowned in the Pedu lake dam in Kuala Nerang, Alor Star.

The man, aged in his 50s, drowned after his boat capsized on Thursday, Bernama reported.

Kedah fire and rescue department zone 1 head Ahmad Aminuddin Abd Rahim said the department was alerted about the incident at 6.20pm on Thursday.

Two anglers were fishing from a boat when it suddenly capsized. One of the anglers, a 55-year-old man, was rescued by members of the public but the other drowned.

A tracker dog unit and snorkellers from the Jitra and Sungai Petani fire and rescue stations began searching for the missing man.

The body was found floating this morning, 1.5km from where he was last seen.

The remains were taken to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar for a post-mortem.
