Zus Coffee says sorry after taking flak for Adidas promo

The coffee chain denies that the giveaway it advertised on Instagram was part of a partnership with the German sportswear manufacturer.

Zus Coffee has apologised for an Instagram post in which it offered to give away Adidas footwear.
PETALING JAYA:
Zus Coffee has apologised after receiving brickbats from social media users over what they perceived as a partnership with Adidas.

The coffee chain released a statement on X today to say that its participation in a recent sports-fashion event was not a partnership with the German sportswear manufacturer.

Zus Coffee said its attendance at the event and the giveaway of Adidas footwear it advertised on its Instagram account was a one-off activity and would never happen again.

“We would never knowingly associate ourselves with war and unequivocally condemn any acts of violence.

“We will exercise greater vigilance and care in our conduct, in the activities we undertake, and the brands we associate with.

“To prevent a repeat, we are taking every necessary action to fortify our policies and procedures to ensure best practices. We are sorry and humbly apologise for the oversight,” it said.

Concerns had been raised by social media users on X about Zus Coffee’s involvement with Adidas, a brand associated with Israeli manufacturer Delta Galil for its underwear production.

A screenshot of an Instagram post by the coffee chain announcing that it was giving away Adidas footwear also made the rounds.

Zus Coffee has since taken the post down.
