Rusdi said this was determined after the arrest of six suspects, including one who was detained this morning.

“The latest suspect arrested is a 23-year-old man, who will be remanded. We cannot complete the investigation yet. Two or three others are still at large and need to be arrested,” Bernama reported him as saying.

Rusdi said this after the monthly meeting at the Kuala Lumpur police contingent headquarters today.

He said all the arrested suspects had criminal records.

“This is an isolated case, a dispute between businessmen. Some of them were hired to throw the firebombs. But so far no connection with secret societies has been found,” he said.

Rusdi said two of the six suspects are also being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting in a public place using offensive weapons.

A CCTV footage went viral on May 9 showing four people on motorcycles throwing petrol bombs in front of the entertainment centre.

The next day, Rusdi was reported as saying police had taken statements from the nightspot’s owner and manager to aid the investigation.
