Unemployed man nabbed with 9.2kg of heroin

An unemployed man has been arrested on suspicion of possessing 9.2kg of heroin worth RM115,000 in Pengkalan Jaya here.

Perak police chief Yusri Hassan Basri said the 47-year-old man was detained by a narcotics team from Ipoh police headquarters at 1.15pm yesterday.

“Following an inspection, police found 20 plastic packets containing 9.2kg of heroin inside a zipped sling bag.

“The suspect tested positive for morphine and had previous convictions for drugs and other crimes,” he said in a statement.

Yusri said the suspect was working for a drug trafficking gang.

He said the seized drugs were meant for the local market, including Pengkalan Jaya.

Yusri said the suspect has been remanded for six days to assist in investigations for trafficking under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
