
Loke said Pang should serve her constituents wholeheartedly and continually seek to strengthen ties between different communities in her constituency.
“There are indeed many initiatives that need to be implemented. She is not only an elected representative but also a liaison between the state government and the rakyat.
“Another agenda is to develop the local economy, especially promoting ecotourism in Kuala Kubu Bharu. This is a major agenda that she must carry out as the Kuala Kubu Bharu assemblyman,” he told reporters after attending PKR’s 25th anniversary celebration here.
Pakatan Harapan successfully retained the state assembly seat in today’s by-election, as Pang won with a majority of 3,869 votes.
Pang, the former press secretary to housing and local government minister Nga Kor Ming, received 14,000 votes while her closest rival, Perikatan Nasional’s Khairul Azhari Saut, polled 10,131 votes. Independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin secured 188 votes and Parti Rakyat Malaysia’s Hafizah Zainuddin received 152 votes.
Loke described PH’s victory as very convincing and said there was an increase in Orang Asli support and among policemen as well as military personnel. “Overall, we received support from the various communities, giving a very sweet victory to the unity government.”
