RM24,000 reward for info on missing Everest climber

KUALA LUMPUR:
A reward of US$5,000 (about RM24,000) has been offered for information on a Malaysian hearing-impaired climber who went missing on Mount Everest in May last year.

Hawari Hashim, 33, went missing on May 19, 2023 while descending from Camp 4 after reaching the summit of Mount Everest.

Malaysia Mountain Guide Association president Yussainy Yusop said the reward by Pioneer Adventure Pvt Ltd is offered to sherpas or individuals, particularly those on Mount Everest during this year’s climbing season.

He said Azim Afif, the leader of the Everest 2023 mission, is currently on Mount Everest to coordinate field operations. The search is being conducted by the association in collaboration with the Penang chief minister’s office.
