Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said the man was apprehended in Bandar Baru Bangi last night.
He told FMT the suspect would be brought to the Petaling Jaya magistrates’ court to be remanded today.
He also reportedly said that Bukit Aman’s classified crime investigation unit has taken over the investigation.
Yesterday, Hussein said police had arrested a man in his 20s in relation to the incident and recorded statements from three people, including Faisal.
Faisal, a winger with the national team and Selangor FC, was splashed with acid at a shopping mall in Kota Damansara.
He is being warded at the intensive care unit (ICU) of a private hospital in Shah Alam with fourth-degree burns.
Selangor Football Association deputy president Shahril Mokhtar said Faisal underwent a four-hour procedure last night after being transferred to Selangor FC’s panel hospital.
Faisal was initially treated at a private hospital here and was reported to be in stable condition.
“He couldn’t communicate clearly after the surgery and will be in the ICU for 10 days. He’s feeling stiff and is unable to talk well,” Shahril was quoted as saying.
“He will need to remain in hospital for another four weeks,” he told The Star.
This was the second attack on a footballer last week. Terengganu FC winger Akhyar Rashid was attacked by two robbers after returning from training on Thursday night.
