PETALING JAYA:
Two more police officers have been arrested in the investigation into a RM1.25 million extortion case, Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said.

He said the two latest arrests, in addition to three previously, involved an inspector and a sergeant, Harian Metro reported.

Razarudin said police also obtained a remand order for the three other police officers until Tuesday.

The trio, comprising an assistant commissioner, a deputy superintendent and an inspector, aged between 38 and 50, were detained near Jalan Tun Razak in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

He said all the officers were assigned to a division in Bukit Aman’s commercial crime investigation department.

The investigation is being conducted by the elite crime investigation unit – part of Bukit Aman CID’s law and prosecution division (D5) – for extortion under Section 384 of the Penal Code.
