3 senior police officers nabbed over RM1.25mil extortion case

KUALA LUMPUR:
Three senior police officers of the commercial crime investigation department in Bukit Aman were arrested today to assist in investigations into an extortion case involving RM1.25 million.

The officers hold the rank of assistant commissioner, deputy superintendent, and inspector and are aged between 38 and 50 years, Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said.

He said all the suspects denied being involved in the case. He said the police report was made at 9.20pm yesterday, but refused to comment further.

A remand application against the suspects will be made tomorrow, he said.

Razarudin said the police would carry out a thorough investigation and are actively collecting information and sufficient evidence to ensure that all those involved are brought to justice.
