In the third match, BAM representative K Letshanaa put up a good fight before going down to Wen Chi Hsu 21-13, 17-21, 16-21.
Taiwan clinched the tie when Hu Ling Fang-Teng Chun Hsun beat Ho Lo Ee-Tan Zhing Yi 21-17, 21-11, and made it 4-1 when Sung Shuo Yun beat national singles shuttler Wong Ling Ching 21-17, 22-20.
Malaysia and Taiwan are grouped with Thailand and Australia, with the top two advancing to the quarter-finals.
