MetMalaysia says a preliminary assessment found that there was no tsunami threat.

KUALA LUMPUR:
A strong earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale was detected in Java, Indonesia at 12.29am (local time) today.

The meteorological department (MetMalaysia) said the epicentre was located at 8.2° south and 107.2° east 147km south of Sukabumi, at a depth of 70km.

A preliminary assessment found that there was no tsunami threat to Malaysia, it said in a statement.
