Education minister Fadhlina Sidek was quoted by Utusan Malaysia as saying that no compromise would be made when it comes to students’ health.
“This issue is currently under investigation. The state education department and the health ministry have taken action by looking into it. Our priority is the health of our students,” she told reporters after an event at SK Kuala Betis in Gua Musang.
Bernama earlier reported that a total of 75 students in Kota Bharu had been treated for food poisoning believed to be linked to a chicken dish served to them last Saturday.
Confirming the incident, Kelantan health director Dr Zaini Hussin said the affected students ranged from 13 to 17 years old.
“Seventy students experienced mild symptoms while five received outpatient treatment and were allowed to return home,” he said.
Yesterday, it was reported that over 20 female students at the secondary school were suspected to have suffered from food poisoning.
