Woman killed, 2 seriously injured in George Town pre-dawn crash

The car they were in veered off the road before hitting a tree in Jalan Macalister, according to a Penang fire and rescue department official.

A distress call on the incident was made at 4.20am and a team from the Jalan Perak fire station was deployed to the scene, according to Penang fire and rescue department operations officer Sha’ari Mansor.

A woman was killed while two men suffered serious injuries after the car they were in veered off the road before hitting a tree in Jalan Macalister here early today.

Foo Yu Xuan, 24, who was driving a Volkswagen, died at the scene after sustaining severe injuries.

Penang fire and rescue department operations officer Sha’ari Mansor said a distress call on the incident was received at 4.20am, and a team from the Jalan Perak fire station was deployed to the scene.

“As soon as the firefighters arrived, they found a car, believed to have veered off the road before ramming into a tree, with three victims inside the vehicle.

“We began extricating the two men and a woman who were trapped in the car, and all of them were successfully removed by 5.27am. A medical team confirmed that the female victim had died (at the scene),” he told Bernama.
