State Islamic religious affairs committee chairman Fared Khalid said the action was taken in response to public complaints against the supermarket, Berita Harian reported.
According to Fared, they had been monitoring the situation last Tuesday following complaints.
“The management of the supermarket has been summoned to provide a statement and has been warned to be more careful regarding products for sale that touch on the sensitivities of the community.
“No statement was issued previously out of respect for the Hari Raya celebration,” he was quoted as saying.
Netizens were shocked when they noticed that the images on the floor mats seemed to be that of the Kaaba.
