Congestion on highways as Klang Valley folk return

Traffic builds up as city folk return from their hometowns after the Raya holidays.

KUALA LUMPUR:
Traffic was congested on certain stretches of major highways heading towards the Klang Valley at 10pm tonight, with many city folk returning from their hometowns after the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays.

The Malaysian Highway Authority said congested stretches from the north included Alor Setar Selatan to Gurun, Sungai Petani Selatan to Bertam, Seberang Jaya to Perai, Juru to Taiping, Simpang Pulai to Tapah, Bidor to Sungkai and Bukit Beruntung to Sungai Buaya.

Traffic from the south was slow-moving from Yong Peng to Pagoh, Jasin to Bemban, Ayer Keroh to Simpang Ampat and Pedas Linggi to Port Dickson.

On the East Coast Expressway 2, traffic was congested from Kuala Dungun to Kerteh and from Paka to Kuantan while traffic on the East Coast Expressway 1 was congested from Lancang to Karak, Karak to Lentang and Genting Sempah to the Gombak toll plaza.
