Exercise caution, says JPA as old ‘simulation’ video emerges

The public services department warns against the uploading of false content aimed at tarnishing the government's image.

The JPA has clarified that the video is a ‘simulation scenario’ aimed at testing the preparedness of security personnel in facing provocative attack situations.
PETALING JAYA:
The public services department (JPA) has asked people to exercise caution when encountering shared information aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the government and civil service.

This follows the circulation of an old video on social media today, showing a civil servant seemingly being stopped by auxiliary police at an event attended by chief secretary to the government Zuki Ali.

In the 70-second video clip, the man is seen “questioning” Zuki about the status of his application for government quarters before attempting to climb onto the stage.

In a statement, JPA clarified that the video is a “simulation scenario” meant to test the preparedness of security personnel in facing provocative attack situations.

“JPA views any attempt to undermine the civil service with seriousness, as it portrays the government as negligent towards the concerns and well-being of civil servants,” it said.

“The act of uploading false content that leads to misunderstanding and confusion among the public may be punishable under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.”
