Yesterday, tragedy struck again for 48-year-old Aslina Abu who lost her younger son, Amin Fakhrullah Faiez, 19, in yet another road accident – also on the eve of Hari Raya.
“Two years ago, the elder one passed away (in a road accident). Yesterday, it was his younger brother. No one understands the extent of the grief we’re experiencing,” she said, according to Kosmo.
Amin, the seventh of 11 siblings, died in an accident at Jalan Tanjung Minyak in Bukit Rambai early yesterday morning.
He was riding his Yamaha Y15 motorcycle at about 1am when he crashed into a car travelling the opposite way after it veered into his lane.
Aslina said Amin’s elder brother, Nasululllah, died in 2022 after crashing into a car that was performing an illegal U-turn at Pantai Puteri. He was also 19.
“My husband and I are now fearful of letting our other children leave the house on the eve of Raya.
“People tell us to be patient, but they don’t feel the weight of our grief. Hari Raya no longer has any meaning for our family,” she said.
She recalled how Amin had given her one last peck on her cheek before leaving the house with a smile. She had also asked him to put on her sweater, which was what he was wearing when he died.
While Aslina acknowledged that she and her family had to come to terms with Amin’s death, she urged the police to ensure justice for her son.
